Code of Practice

Service

You can count on us to provide a professional service. We are always dressed appropriately, we conduct ourselves professionally and treat every customer in a friendly manner.

Our services are being utilized by many parents, organizations and companies, and therefore we maintain our quality of service to ensure their continued support. All artists have passed a background check and are qualified to work with children.

Balloon Products

Our balloons are biodegradable latex products.

Artists are not liable for allergic reactions to latex, so if your child has very sensitive skin, or has a known allergy to latex products, please do discuss this before the child receives a balloon. Balloons should never be placed in a child's mouth, as there is a risk of suffocation, and artists cannot be held liable for misuse of a balloon. It is the parent's or carer's responsibility to monitor their children once they have received a balloon.

Balloons pop easily when they come into contact with other objects, and grass and pavement are some of the worst culprits. If your event is outdoors, consider designating a ''safe'' place in which to store balloons until your guests are ready to take them home. Balloon sculptures have been known to last several weeks if left in a clean, safe spot, and if they have suffered minimal ''handling'' (skin oils weaken latex).

Paint Products

We use only the highest quality professional water based makeup paint products which are designed for the use on skin.

Our paints are hypo-allergenic and comply with FDA & EU cosmetic regulations. However, this does not eliminate the possibility of an allergic reaction. Artists are not liable for allergic reactions to paints, so if your child has very sensitive skin, or is allergic to a range of common products, please do discuss this before the child is painted. We are happy to perform a ''patch test'' where we apply a small amount of paint inside the child's elbow, and wait to see if there are any adverse effects.

Some colors may slightly stain the skin but this is temporary.

Face paint is easily removed with soap and water or baby wipes.

NOTE TO PARENTS: Please be aware that ordinary craft supplies (acrylic paint, watercolors and the like) are NOT approved for use on skin, and can contain ingredients that cause allergic reactions. Many contain carcinogens (cancer-causing substances) in spite of their ''non-toxic'' or ''washable'' labeling. For safe face painting fun, ask your local craft store for actual FACE paints or visit our LINKS page for specialized webstores with affordable pricing.

Clientele

Balloons are not recommended for young children who habitually place items in their mouths. Face painting is not recommended for children under 3 years old.

If a child is reluctant to have his or her face painted, the painter will not comply with the wishes of the parent or carer over the desire of the child!

Young children do not always understand face painting - someone they do not know is invading their private space and painting something which they cannot see--not to mention they have a pointy-looking paintbrush!! A small design on the hand may be more enjoyable for them. This way, they can watch what is being done, feel in control of the situation, and can look at it and enjoy it for the rest of the day.

We will not paint anyone who, in the opinion of the painter, appears to be suffering from cold & flu symptoms, a cold sore, conjunctivitis or any other infectious skin complaint. Similarly, eczema, open cuts and grazes are not suitable surfaces to paint.
